pentagon
last night on the way back from my school's performing arts group performance we stopped at a coffee time. i was kind of excited about the prospect of going to a coffee time. i was excited because it is not everyday that you get to have coffee at what i would call the last resort coffee shop, it is the type of place that you only go to when tim hortons is no where to be found and after you have looked for a country style and discover there isn't one you go to coffee time. but this particular trip to coffee time was different because coffee time was having their flip-to-win event. flip-to-win. it was like nothing i had ever seen. for those of you who haven't had the pleasure of experiencing the flip-to-win, i'll explain it. what they do is write a prize under the rolled part of the rim and all over the cup they have different prizes you can win, trip for two to cuba is one example of a prize. so after you have finished drinking the coffee you are supposed to flip up the rim and see what you win. you can all imagine the excitement as i flip up the rim, but of course i didn't win anything. it is really too bad i know, but the worst part is that i don't know where i can ever play this type of game again, because you can only find coffee time in the middle of nowhere. i was so thrilled at this new experience of flipping a rim for a prize i really think that this is going to be a break through in the resurant gaming industry. if they keep up games of this caliber in their resturants they will no longer be the coffee shop of last resort but the place of first choice, where people will get up a half hour early just so that they can have the excitement of playing flip-to-win. watch out tim hortons, coffee time is going to sweep the world with their new and creative ways of attracting people with with original games like flip-to-win. i think that in the summer they should do some kind of doughnut monopoly.

HAHAHA i am the first to comment... but i suppose that wasn't fair since i also spell-checked it for you and knew exactly when you were going to post it... anyway, i would like to thank you for keeping all of us informed about the many ways that less cool companies try to grab onto the coattails of cooler and more successful ones.
doughnut monopoly...you might be on to something there!
dear matt you may be excited to know there is a coffee time in peterborough...yes that is right....so perhaps you could go to one on purpose! its on lansdown east...really east... my dad stops there every morning on his way to work at like 5 am...its open 24 hours! lol go...enjoy!!!
have you heard of roll up the rim?
now i don't mean to be a downer but sadly Roll up the Rim is first, i only say this because they at least let you win your try again, they say play again, therefore i at least won the play again, but with flip the rim you get a sorry try again, which thus removes the winning of the try again, therefore i consider this rude and will let coffee time remain the last resort coffee spot
Matt, I would like to point out that your blogs are getting shorter and shorter. This is a good thing i guess because it encourages people to read them. As usual you made me laugh really hard in pretty much every blog. I had a bad day today and this just improved it greatly. So although they are I guess, like mcdonalds french fries mentioned in a previous blog. they still taste so good and smell even better. Also I really liked your grocery tips. Especially the tumms suggestion. HAHAHAHA wow, if I ever move away, like if I come to KLBC i will definitely try it out. Until then I will still eat my cereal every morning. Hopefully I'll see you in a week. Also, to the other commentees, I think most of you are just as hilarious as matt. But shhh! dont tell him I said that.
Melissa,
Try to keep your comments shorter than Matt's blogs.
to Anonymous who commented to Melissa: no need for that, especially if you're anonymous. I think it's great people can express themselves here. Keep at it, thanks for the read everyone!
well...i couldn't help but notice that you changed your profile a bit matt...now you're ambitious instead of handsome eh?
not too be too picky, but you still spelt COUNSIL wrong....it's COUNCIL...with a C...maybe they should teach english at the school you're at...
Hey anonymous, easy does it, this should be friendly....perhaps you should find something else to do with your time.
Matt, I loved it. The sarcasm dripped, DRIPPED off of it. Genius, plain genius.
Graeme
Haha... and here I thought that all the rude anon. comments were from Dan!
Saw the Flip to win commercial tonight... oh, the irony of it all!
Dear Anonymous,
"not TOO be too picky" is a grammatical error as well... which kind of ruins any right you have to get all up in Matt's face about his own orthographical shortcomings. Anyway, I think Matt is doing a fine job. Let's not be bitter... :)
I have absolutely nothing to add, it's all been said by now :( So disappointed to be a late arrival on your blog. They (the Coffee Time) only chose "flip to win" because they're linguistically challeneged and can't rrrrrolllll their rr's to "roll up the rim to win", that and a possible law suit. They obviously have no scottish descent
oops! Typo in my last comment, and after me criticizing your typing skills! the word would be "challenged". Time to cut the nails!
Matt, you're a loser - I won a large coffee. Now I have to go back. Maybe I'm the loser...
Man people, I was being SARCASTIC, in keeping with Melissa's comments about Matt's blogs getting shorter, and since Matt did such an excellent job of being sarcastic. For a true appreciation of sarcasm, see frewdan.blogspot.com.
Sorry Melissa if I hurt your feelings, nice to know you've got so many friends.
p.s. the previous advertisement for frewdan.blogspot.com is in no way affiliated with the man himself. Dan's tough enough to be un-anonymously mean. Not that I was being mean. SARCASTIC!
Jack,
That was hilarious! Like a fine stinky cheese, you are improving with time. And although I'm impressed you've acquired a spell checker, it does take some of the humour out of it.
Be yourself, Jack, be yourself.
I am confused.
Who is Jack?
alright, i guess i'm being a little rude...a little mean...and bruce, or whatever your name is, i gladly take your criticism...i am quite picky when it comes to spelling and grammar, but that does not mean i am perfect...thank you for pointing out the error...so if my right to criticize matt's grammar and spelling has been revoked, i guess i can say something nice...matt, it seems like you have some friends that stand up for you...
buddy, timhortons has roll up the rim to win!!! they probably stole it from them!!! u need to get out more!!
Well Matt J... I didn't actually read your entire first blog, but i did come pretty close. I mean, I concluded that you have some bright insight into this industry through your clever analysis. I think the Coffee Time coffee shops are on the verge of hitting their time; their time referring to when they shall drive tim horton's in financial calamity. Yes that’s right- financial calamity and you heard it here first
ok, what really bothers me is when i have to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page to read my previous comment. Call me logical, but that just makes good sense.
